LOCAL ADVISORY COUNCILS

Financial Investor Advisory. Close Up Hand Pointing At Contract

A Local Mental Health Advisory Council (LAC) offers individuals, parents, families, and providers the opportunity to make a real difference in how mental health care is provided in their community. It offers county and state policy makers the wisdom of those who experience mental health concerns first-hand. The goal of Local Advisory Councils (LACs) is to utilize the knowledge of diverse groups of individuals in order to improve mental health services in their area.

Gathering many voices to discuss issues related to mental health provides a variety of perspectives, experiences and ideas. Hearing different points of view promotes useful discussions, meaningful input, and encourages problem solving. Successful LACs work to incorporate many voices, including voices of individuals who have a lived mental health experiences and their families. They also maintain a thoughtful and inclusive approach to discussions focused on solutions and implementation of creative ideas for their communities. ALL ARE WELCOME.
